About Tangkahan

Welcome to Tangkahan

Tangkahan lies on the edge of Gunung Leuser National Park in northern Sumatra, where clear rivers flow through dense tropical rainforest. This is a place shaped by the steady rhythm of water and the living sounds of the jungle. Here, the echoes of the forest surround you — the constant rush of the river, the calls of gibbons from the canopy, and the gentle movement of leaves in the breeze. These natural rhythms invite you to slow down, listen, and simply be present.Visitors come to walk trails beside the river, swim in natural pools, stand beneath small waterfalls, and observe wildlife in its own environment. The area remains one of the most important rainforest ecosystems in Southeast Asia, rich in biodiversity and full of authentic detail.Tangkahan offers a quiet space to experience the jungle as it truly is. Whether you spend your time by the river, on the trails, or simply resting near the water, the echoes of this landscape stay with you long after you leave.Welcome to Tangkahan.
